The Graduate Certificate in Asian Languages offers the opportunity to gain training in an Asian language at beginning or advanced level depending upon students' previous studies.

Employment Prospects:The course is intended to serve the career development needs of teachers and members of other professional groups in the areas of foreign affairs, law, public service, business, and journalism, who require facility in one of the major languages of the Asian region.
Special Requirements:Units taken depend on language chosen and initial level of proficiency. Language units must be taken sequentially and Part I units (or equivalent language proficiency) are prerequisite for subsequent units.
Professional Recognition:Advanced-level students may sit for the National Accreditation Authority for Translation and Interpreters (NAATI) Exam, the formal qualification required for translation work.
Exemption from Postgrad Course Regulations:In this course, where appropriate, undergraduate units (between 100- and 400-level) have been included to meet the learning outcomes for the entire course. Postgraduate students can expect to be part of a learning community with undergraduate students in these units. This course has been granted a specific exemption from the Postgraduate Coursework Regulations.
