This unit examines current debates over issues of concern to the Asia-Pacific and global communities. These include: sources consensus and conflict in and among nation states; links between democratisation and capitalist development; the World Bank and its prescriptions for international development; international responses to failed and failing states; the nature of US power and the implications of the rise of China; regional crises and institutions; and drivers of transnational cooperation over the environment.
