Planning your Degree in Tourism

Sydney across the waterA special feature of studying at Murdoch is the flexibility allowed in planning your degree. Many students choose to combine studies from various areas in order to increase their general knowledge and skills base.

Employers look for people who are broadly educated, as well as competent in specific areas. Studying in two or more disciplines increases career prospects, extends your general level of education and allows you to pursue more than one interest. Individual units at Murdoch may be offered externally which removes timetable restrictions and increases students' choice. Many programmes can also be effectively combined as a full double major.

Many areas of study may be combined with a tourism degree but some of the popular are: Commerce, Marketing, Management, Asian Studies, Conservation Biology, Marine Science, Environmental Science, Aboriginal and Islander Studies, Communication Studies, History and Sociology. These are taught on the main campus at Murdoch, although some units are also available on the Rockingham campus.
